Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.

Julia Teeluck is a first-generation Canadian writer of Guyanese heritage. She writes poetry, short fiction, and creative non-fiction on girlhood, womanhood, friendship, beauty, dreams, love, grief and loss. Themes such as race, class and belonging are also prevalent in her work.

Her poetry has appeared in Vallum and Feels zine, and her short story “42” received first prize in Canvas magazine’s writing contest (Ryerson University, 2014). Her personal essay “Homecoming” was featured in the anthology Writing in the Time of Covid (Life Rattle Press, 2021). She is also a former reader at PRISM International.

Julia holds an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC and an Honours BA in Professional Writing from York University. Throughout a career spanning nearly two decades, she has written for award-winning B2B magazines, developed executive communications and media strategies, and crafted messaging to drive digital change. She works in the wealth management industry, leading corporate communications for a HNW advisory firm.

Julia loves a rich-people-behaving-badly trope and counts The White Lotus, Big Little Lies, and Very Bad Company amongst her favourite modern stories.

She is working on her debut novel, a class-driven revenge story with messy power dynamics, social climbers and mystery elements.
